Nebraska leaders and law enforcement agencies offered their condolences after a Nebraska state trooper was killed in the line of duty while responding to a crash Monday.
The crash occurred while the trooper and others were responding to another crash on Interstate 80 between Ashland and Greenwood, the Nebraska State Patrol said.
Authorities said the name of the trooper will be released at a later time.
“Our hearts and prayers are with the troopers’ family, friends, and colleagues. Everyone, please stay safe, and if you need to go out, please take extra care,” Nebraska Congressman Don Bacon said on social media.
“A deeply tragic loss. Mandi and I, along with Nebraskans across our state, are praying. Our hearts are with the family, the Nebraska State Patrol trooper community, and everyone grieving in this moment,” Nebraska Congressman Mike Flood said on social media.
