
Derek Beach Death; Man dies after being shot by police in Lincoln
Derek Beach Death; A 37-year-old man died on Wednesday after being shot by police in Lincoln.
Lincoln police issued a news statement Thursday stating that officers responded to a trespassing allegation at 7 Whalen Street shortly after 8:30 p.m.
According to the lawsuit, Derek Beach was at a residence where he was not permitted to be because he was subject to a protective order. According to the release, Beach had bail terms that prohibited him from returning to the residence.
Officers attempted to talk with Beach, who was tased after failing to respond to their demands, according to the release. Beach then allegedly rushed at officers with a knife, prompting Sgt. Michael Winslow and Officer Kristofer Milner to shoot him, authorities said.
Beach died at the scene.
The Office of the Maine Attorney General is investigating the incident.
