The Tragic Loss of One Life Transforms into Hope for Several Others: Today, Lake County Fire Rescue – Official personnel and an Orange County Fire Rescue firefighter met with the family of 40-year-old Christopher Smith, who did not survive a motorcycle crash he was involved in two weeks ago. An off-duty Orange County, Florida firefighter was first on scene and immediately began CPR until Lake County firefighters arrived on scene. Despite the tragic outcome, the immediate and effective medical intervention on the scene of the crash helped restore blood circulation and oxygen to vital organs and tissues, creating transplant opportunities.
Christopher is remembered by family and friends as someone who positively impacted the lives of many people, both in life and death. By becoming an organ donor, Christopher made a final incredible and lasting act of selflessness and compassion by giving the gift of life to more than thirty transplant recipients.
Christopher’s family thanked first responders for their lifesaving efforts and highlighted the profound impact of organ donation.
