Alison Findley Death; Grundy County State’s Attorney charged 44 year old Chris Nielsen in the August 2024 death of 63 year old Alison Findley of Morris
On 02-14-25 the Grundy County State’s Attorney charged 44 year old Chris Nielsen in the August 2024 death of 63 year old Alison Findley of Morris.
On 08-30-24 at 7:30 am Alison was reported missing by a friend. The friend reported Alison was last seen by Chris Nielsen (Alison’s son) at 2:00 am on 08-26-24. On 08-30-24 at 6:16 pm, officers were called to the area behind the apartment buildings in the 900 block of Twilight Drive. A woman walking her dog discovered Alison’s body buried in the brush of the tree line.
Alison lived in an apartment in the 900 block of Twilight Drive with Nielsen.
When initially interviewed, Nielsen denied any involvement in or knowledge of how his mother died. The investigation relied on physical evidence recovered at the autopsy and at Alison’s apartment.
Coroner John Callahan’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be Homicidal Trauma with Strangulation Injuries.
The evidence collected was transported to the Northeastern Illinois Regional Crime Lab for analysis.
After compiling enough evidence for an arrest, Investigators learned Nielsen had a warrant through Will County on an unrelated charge. They located Nielsen at a residence in Bourbonnais. He was arrested on the Will County warrant and transported to the Will County Jail.
Morris Police Investigators then immediately met with Grundy County State’s Attorney Russ Baker who charged Nielsen with 3 counts of First Degree Murder, 2 counts of Felony Domestic Battery and 1 count Felony Aggravated Battery. He will be transferred directly to the Grundy County Jail.
We’d like to thank the Bourbonnais Police Department for their assistance in locating Nielsen. In addition, we appreciate the relationship we have with the Grundy County Coroner’s Officer and Grundy County State’s Attorney’s Office and their professional assistance with the case.
Most importantly, we again want to express sympathy to Alison’s family and friends for their tragic loss.
