Adavion Herring Death; 17-Year-Old Shot and Killed
Tragic Shooting at Brighton Park Apartments: Suspect Arrested, Investigation Ongoing.
On Saturday, February 15, 2025, at approximately 2:00 AM, we responded to a shooting at Brighton Park Apartments, 4847 S. Darlington Ave. Officers discovered a 17-year-old male victim, identified as Adavion Herring, deceased from gunshot wounds in one of the apartments.
The suspects fired multiple shots through a bedroom window and our Crime Scene Unit recovered shell casings from .45 and 9 mm rounds.
Three other occupants in the apartment were unharmed.
Witnesses reported seeing two male suspects outside the apartment prior to the shooting.
Witness testimony led to the identification of a primary suspect, Siion Ferguson, also 17 years old.
Less than 12 hours later, at approximately 12:30 PM, Officers located and detained Ferguson and another juvenile male in an Uber vehicle near 4300 S. Memorial Dr.
A .45 caliber Glock handgun was recovered from the vehicle near Ferguson and a 9mm Glock handgun was found on the other juvenile.
Ferguson has been arrested and booked in for 1st Degree Murder.
The investigation is ongoing, and we are working to determine the involvement of the second detained juvenile.
